Buy MeTokens

Frequently asked questions

What is Buy Me Tokens?

A page where anyone can support a developer for what they build, with tokens or for free. We call it tokens because that's the fuel devs run on today.

Do supporters send me real tokens?

Not literally. They send money, you turn it into tokens. "Tokens" is the metaphor, and the amounts on the page are just suggestions. The final amount is chosen on the payment method.

What does it cost?

Free to join, and we take no cut. Money goes straight from the supporter to you through the method you pick. You keep everything they send, minus whatever fee your own payment provider charges.

Do you hold or move my money?

Never. We just show the ways to pay you that you add: a USDC wallet address, your GitHub Sponsors page, and one other link if you want (like Ko-fi or PayPal). The money goes straight to you.

Which countries does it work in?

USDC works for devs in any country with a wallet, and GitHub Sponsors covers card payers in 100+ regions. If cards or PayPal don't work where you live, USDC still does. Crypto isn't required, and it isn't available or legal everywhere, so check your local rules.

Which ways to pay are there?

Three: USDC on Solana or Base, GitHub Sponsors, and one other link of the dev's choice. We picked USDC and GitHub Sponsors because we can confirm when a payment arrives. Payments through the other link go to a site we can't see, so they're never shown as confirmed.

I don't have a wallet. How do I get one?

It takes about five minutes and it's free. We wrote a step-by-step guide: pick Solana or Base, install a wallet from its official site, save your recovery phrase, and copy your address. Find it at /wallets.

How do you know a payment really arrived?

We check the blockchain, not the browser. Each payment has a unique request; we confirm that the right amount of real USDC reached the right wallet for that exact request, and we never count a transaction twice. A payment is only shown as confirmed when the chain proves it.

How do I know a page isn't a scam?

We show the destination before anything opens: the wallet address or the website domain. Links to sites we don't recognise get an extra warning. Verified pages show a badge. Use Report on any page and we'll look into it. Always double-check the address or site before you send money.

Can I put a button on my README or website?

Yes. Grab a badge from the badge page, pick a style, and paste the code. It links straight to your page.

What if I can't pay?

Many pages have a "Support for free" section. Devs add the places they want to be followed or supported, like GitHub, X, LinkedIn, YouTube or Product Hunt. A star, a follow or an upvote all help.
